Fire Sprinkler Inspection Software Guide - Coming Soon
This guide explains what fire sprinkler inspection software needs to support NFPA 25 work. FireInspected currently supports NFPA 10 portable fire extinguisher workflows; NFPA 25 support is planned.
What an NFPA 25 sprinkler workflow needs
NFPA 25 (Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems) requires inspection and testing at multiple frequencies. A production workflow would need to track those schedules, readings, deficiencies, and reports; FireInspected does not currently provide that workflow.
Weekly and monthly inspections
- Gauge readings - Record water supply pressure, system pressure, and air pressure (for dry systems) on every visit, then review readings against the applicable procedures
- Control valve position verification - Confirm all valves are in the correct open or closed position and are sealed, locked, or supervised
- Alarm valve exterior check - Verify the alarm valve trim, retard chamber, and water motor gong are in proper condition
- Dry system checks - Verify the dry pipe valve priming water level, air pressure maintenance, and low-point drains
- Fire pump inspection - Weekly churn test for electric pumps, weekly run test for diesel pumps per NFPA 20/25 requirements
Quarterly inspections
- Water flow alarm test - Open the inspector's test connection and verify the water flow alarm activates within the required time and that signals reach the monitoring station
- Supervisory signal testing - Test all valve tamper switches, low-air pressure switches, low-temperature alarms, and water level supervisory signals
- Hydraulic nameplate verification - Confirm the system's hydraulic design information sign is present, legible, and secured
Annual inspections and tests
- Main drain test - Perform the main drain flow test, record static and residual pressures, and compare to previous readings to detect water supply degradation
- Full fire pump flow test - Annual performance test at rated flow to verify pump output meets the original design specifications
- Antifreeze system testing - Test antifreeze concentration with a refractometer per NFPA 25 requirements
- 5-year internal obstruction investigation - Schedule and document the 5-year internal pipe inspection for obstructions, MIC (microbiologically influenced corrosion), and foreign material
Customer and riser management
A sprinkler platform should track every building, riser, floor, and zone, then surface work due at weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and longer intervals. FireInspected does not currently offer this NFPA 25 workflow.
FireInspected product status
FireInspected currently focuses on NFPA 10-oriented extinguisher documentation. Sprinkler readings and NFPA 25 reporting are not available today. Join the product updates list if you want news about future workflow research.
