Fire Alarm Inspection Software Guide - Coming Soon

This guide explains what fire alarm inspection software needs to support NFPA 72 work. FireInspected currently supports NFPA 10 portable fire extinguisher workflows; NFPA 72 support is planned.

What an NFPA 72 fire alarm workflow needs

NFPA 72 (National Fire Alarm and Signaling Code) work typically requires device-level inspection records, test results, qualified personnel, and reports aligned with the adopted code and AHJ requirements. FireInspected does not currently provide these forms or reports.

Initiating device testing

  • Smoke detector sensitivity testing - Record sensitivity readings and compare against manufacturer specifications per NFPA 72 Chapter 14
  • Manual pull station operation checks - Verify activation, reset, and proper signal transmission to the panel
  • Heat detector testing - Rate-of-rise and fixed-temperature detector verification with calibrated test equipment
  • Duct detector testing - Smoke entry, airflow, and alarm verification for HVAC duct detectors

Notification appliance testing

  • Horn/strobe audibility and visibility checks - Verify sound pressure levels and strobe coverage per NFPA 72 requirements
  • Voice evacuation system testing - Intelligibility testing and message verification
  • Battery and power supply testing - Load testing, charger verification, and runtime calculations

Control panel and system testing

  • Control unit functional testing - Verify all circuits, zones, and annunciation
  • Supervisory signal testing - Tamper switches, valve supervision, and trouble signal verification
  • Off-premises signal transmission - Verify signals reach the monitoring station or central station
